RAPID CITY, S.D. – Thursday, June 11 – The westbound lanes from 12th Street/Founder’s Park Drive to Cross Street have been closed and two-way traffic is in the eastbound lanes. There is a 10-foot width restriction though the construction work zone. Storm drain work continues on the north side of Omaha Street and is progressing westward from 12th Street/Founder’s Park Drive. Roadway excavation and subgrade preparation continues at the east end of the project. Gravel work will start later this week and paving is expected to begin before the end of June.
The east entrance into the Founders Park parking lot is closed, the west entrance is open. Early next week storm sewer work will disrupt the west entrance to Founders Park. During that time, the west entrance will be closed, and the east entrance will be open.
Business access on Omaha Street will remain open at all times. Access to Founders Park will be limited to a single approach. Left-hand turns onto Omaha Street are discouraged to allow for continued flow of traffic. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane.
Weekly progress meetings will be held Wednesdays; however, project facilities will be closed to the public. For questions, the public may call (605) 343-3311 and leave a message or firstname.lastname@example.org. Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project.
