RAPID CITY, S.D. – August 19 – Concrete paving will continue this week from the west Founders Park entrance to the west end of Phase 1 project limits. Work this week also includes curb and gutter installation, driving lane tie-ins, and sidewalk work along Founders Park. Paving of the remaining westbound driving lane is progressing this week. The east entrance into the Founders Park parking lot is open and the west entrance is closed for construction. The westbound lanes from 12th Street/Founder’s Park Drive to Cross Street are closed and two-way traffic is in the eastbound lanes. There is a 10-foot width restriction though the construction work zone.
Water and storm sewer installation is in progress in the Deadwood Avenue southbound driving lane and will continue next week. Widening and paving the southbound lane of Deadwood Avenue, between Cement Plant Road and Krebs Drive, will follow the water and storm sewer installation.
Business access on Omaha Street will remain open at all times. Access to Founders Park will be limited to a single approach. Left-hand turns onto Omaha Street are discouraged to allow for continued flow of traffic. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane. For questions, the public may call (605) 343-3311 and leave a message or firstname.lastname@example.org. Interested persons can also follow the project on Facebook, “Omaha Street Reconstruction,” and on Twitter, “Omaha Street Reconstruction@FerbEngCo.” Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project.
