RAPID CITY, S.D. – October 8 – Storm sewer installation is in progress in the eastbound lanes of Omaha Street and curb and gutter will begin this week. The first concrete paving in eastbound lanes is anticipated the week of October 12th beginning at Canal Street moving east. Two-way traffic is in the westbound lanes of Omaha Street from the west end of construction to 12th Street. Access to Oshkosh Street and Cross Street is from Canal Street. Access to the Omaha Street Plaza is from 12th Street.
Traffic has been reduced to two lanes on Deadwood Avenue between Cement Plant Road and Krebs Drive. Grading, widening, and paving the southbound lane of Deadwood Avenue is in progress.
There is a 10-foot width restriction though the construction work zone. Business access on Omaha Street will remain open at all times. Left-hand turns onto Omaha Street are discouraged to allow for continued flow of traffic. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane.
