RAPID CITY, S.D. – November 12 – Work this week includes asphalt paving at Oshkosh Street, the approach at Office Depot, and the approach at Black Hills Bicycles. Mainline concrete pour is anticipated at the end of this week. Topsoil and backfill placement continue from the east going west. Work is starting this week on the curb and gutter and fillets at the Cross Street intersection. Concrete paving is anticipated next week from Oshkosh Street to the Office Depot approach. Two-way traffic is in the westbound lanes of Omaha Street from the west end of construction to 12th Street. Access to Oshkosh Street and Cross Street is from Canal Street. Access to the Omaha Street Plaza is from 12th Street.
Traffic has been reduced to two lanes on Deadwood Avenue between Cement Plant Road and Krebs Drive. Work in this area includes pouring concrete tie-ins.
There is a 10-foot width restriction though the construction work zone. Business access on Omaha Street will remain open at all times. Left-hand turns onto Omaha Street are discouraged to allow for continued flow of traffic. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane.
