RAPID CITY, S.D. – December 3 – Work this week includes paving tie-ins at the west end of the project, near the soccer field entrance, mainline paving at various fill-in locations, paving the turn lanes at Cross Street, backfilling and topsoil placement, lighting work at Cross Street, and landscape work in the Founders Park parking lot area.
On Monday, December 7, Oshkosh Street will be open and Canal Street will be closed.
Access to Canal Street and Cross Street will be from Oshkosh Street. Access to Black Hills Bicycles will be from Oshkosh Street. Access to the Omaha Street Plaza is from 12th Street. The west entrance into Founders Park remains closed. Cross Street is anticipated to be open toward the end of next week.
The middle lane on Deadwood Avenue, between Cement Plant Road and Krebs Drive remains closed. Sidewalk work is starting on Deadwood Avenue this week along with street lighting work.
There is a 10-foot width restriction though the construction work zone. Business access on Omaha Street will remain open at all times. Left-hand turns onto Omaha Street are discouraged to allow for continued flow of traffic. Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lane.
