RAPID CITY, S.D. – March 4, 2021 – Heavy Constructors, Inc. has resumed work on the Omaha Street Reconstruction project. Temporary traffic signals are being installed at the Deadwood Avenue intersection and will be installed at the Mountain View Road intersection early next week.
West bound traffic will be put into a single lane next week from 12th Street to Deadwood Avenue to accommodate median work. East bound traffic will be put into a single lane from Deadwood Avenue to Mountain View Road as removal work begins.
Work on the east side of the Rapid Creek Bridge as begun. It is anticipated that the bike path through this area will not be detoured until mid to late spring.
Retaining wall work and general clean up continues along Deadwood Avenue.
Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes. Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project.
