RAPID CITY, S.D. – April 14, 2021 – The Bike Skills Park north of Omaha Street will remain closed through the end of this week, to allow crews to work on a detention pond northeast of the park. The bike path on the south side of the Bike Skills Park is open but does not provide access to the Bike Skills Park.
Work continues on the median from the soccer field entrance to 12th Street, which includes the installation of decorative concrete, landscaping, and a pedestrian crossing at Canal Street.
Work will also take place on driving lane connections on the east end of the project, near 12th Street. Permanent signs will also be installed.
Foundation work is continuing in support of widening the bridge over Rapid Creek. Surfacing removals have begun east of Rapid Creek.
Removals and grading continue on the north side of Omaha Street, from Rapid Creek west to Deadwood Avenue. Work on storm sewer has begun.
Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.
Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project.
