Project Update 2021-05-12

RAPID CITY, S.D. – May 12, 2021 – The Bike Skills Park north of Omaha Street remains closed as crews finish work on the detention pond. An access from the bike path will be constructed and the Bike Skills Park will open late this week.

Work continues on the Omaha Street median from the soccer field entrance to 12th Street, which includes the installation of landscaping, pavement sealing, and permanent signing.

Foundation work and removals on the deck bridge are continuing in support of widening the bridge over Rapid Creek.

Work continues on grading and storm sewer on the north side of Omaha Street, from the soccer fields west to Deadwood Avenue, and in the northbound lanes of Deadwood Avenue from Omaha Street to Krebs Drive. Gravel will be placed in the westbound lanes from the Rapid Creek bridge to Deadwood Avenue in preparation for concrete surfacing.

Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.

Additional information will be provided as phasing, access, and traffic control changes with the progression of the project.
