Project Update 2022-03-16

RAPID CITY, S.D. – March 16, 2022 – Surfacing work including concrete paving, panel replacements, and lane tie-ins will continue near the Rapid Creek bridge and on the south side of the Deadwood Avenue intersection. Grading work is scheduled to begin this week in the median area east of the Mountain View Drive intersection.

Work continues on the widening of the Rapid Creek bridge toward the south. A concrete pour for the bridge widening is anticipated this week. The bike path that travels under the Rapid Creek bridge is currently closed and is anticipated to remain closed through mid-April 2022.

A major change in traffic patterns is planned for late March to allow for median and turn lane construction between Cross Street and Mountain View Drive.

Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.
