Project Update 2022-04-21

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Work continues on the Rapid Creek bridge, including barrier and sidewalk placement. The bridge deck overlay is scheduled for late next week.

Surfacing work, including panel replacements and lane tie-ins, will continue near the Rapid Creek bridge. Grading work and gravel placement continues in the median area east of the Mountain View Drive intersection. Paving of turn lanes and median curb placement will follow. Clean up, landscaping, and miscellaneous work continues behind the curb along the project area.

Water lines are being installed in the south leg of the Deadwood Avenue Intersection. Grading and surfacing replacement will follow.

A traffic switch on Omaha Street west of the Rapid Creek bridge is expected in early May. Traffic will be placed in the outside lanes to accommodate median and turn lane surface installation.

Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.
