RAPID CITY, S.D. – With the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally taking place this week, please use extreme caution while driving through the construction area and watch for motorcycles.
Pavement markings and sign installation from 12th Street to Sheffer Street are anticipated to be complete early next week. Landscaping, soil stabilization, miscellaneous work, and cleanup continues throughout the project. Placement of sod will continue next week along West Chicago Street and move east. Seeding will take place next week as well. All work is expected to be complete by the end of August.
Temporary lane closures will be in place next week near the Rapid Creek Bridge to accommodate final surface work.
Motorists are asked to be aware of suddenly slowing and merging traffic, changing work zone locations, reduced speeds through the work zone, and construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.
Interested persons can follow the project on Facebook, “Omaha Street Reconstruction,” and on Twitter, “Omaha Street Reconstruction @FerbEngCo.” The public may leave a message at 605-343-3311 with any questions or concerns regarding this reconstruction project.
